Reassurance on Rainy Journeys: TIGGO8 CSH Helps Protect Every Family Trip

TIGGO 8

In midsummer, the weather can change in moments. For family drivers who commute every day and take children to and from school, rainy journeys often bring extra pressure: blurred visibility makes standing water harder to judge, wet roads increase braking distances, lane changes feel less certain in heavy traffic, and sudden situations can make every trip feel more demanding.

Guided by its core value proposition, For Family, CHERY focuses on the real-world driving needs of everyday families. TIGGO8 CSH offers multiple active and passive safety features. From monitoring the vehicle’s surroundings before setting off to providing risk alerts on the move and occupant protection in a collision, these features help drivers stay aware of potential risks and provide added reassurance on rainy journeys.

Clearer Visibility: Keeping the Surroundings in View in Rain and Mist

Limited visibility is often the first challenge in rainy driving. Rain can cover the windscreen, water droplets can gather on the mirrors, blind spots around the vehicle can expand, and even the depth of standing water can be difficult to judge. TIGGO8 CSH is equipped with a 540° panoramic camera system, combining a 360° surround view with a 180° transparent chassis. The central display shows real-time images around the vehicle and beneath the chassis, while 3-megapixel HD cameras make kerbs, standing water and obstacles easier to identify. Whether passing another vehicle on a narrow road or reversing into a parking space in the rain, drivers can keep a clearer sense of what is around them.

In dim conditions at dusk or inside tunnels, the intelligent headlamp control system automatically switches between high and low beams, helping illuminate the road ahead while reducing glare for oncoming vehicles. The camera recognises speed-limit signs in real time and displays them on the instrument panel, reminding drivers to reduce their speed in rainy conditions. With clearer information available before each manoeuvre, drivers can proceed with greater confidence.

Braking and Stability: Added Confidence on Slippery Roads and in Stop-Start Traffic

When road grip drops in the rain, braking distances become longer and drivers have less time to react if the vehicle ahead suddenly slows. TIGGO8 CSH is equipped with an enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system. Using a forward-facing camera powered by the Mobileye Q4 chip, the system monitors the road ahead in real time and can provide braking assistance when it detects a potential collision risk. Together with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), which provides audible and visual alerts, the system gives drivers additional warning and braking support.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) can assist with following the vehicle ahead at speeds from 0 to 160 km/h, adjusting the vehicle’s speed in response to traffic flow and helping maintain the selected following distance. This can reduce the need for frequent accelerator and brake inputs in rainy conditions. In chassis performance, TIGGO8 CSH adopts a "gimbal-style" comfort chassis with European-level tuning, paired with 19-inch wheels and quiet tyres. The chassis is designed to help maintain vehicle stability when travelling over puddles or uneven road surfaces. The vehicle has recorded lateral acceleration of up to 0.92 g and a moose-test entry speed of 77.8 km/h, demonstrating its handling and stability under the relevant test conditions.

Avoiding Hazards: Blind-Spot Alerts and Steering Assistance When It Matters

When mirrors are unclear in the rain, the biggest concern during lane changes is often whether another vehicle is approaching from the side or rear. TIGGO8 CSH is equipped with Blind Spot Detection (BSD). Using two 77 GHz radars, the system scans the rear blind spots in real time and activates automatically at speeds of 15 km/h or above. When a vehicle enters the blind spot, a warning light illuminates in the mirror. If the driver signals a lane change at that moment, Lane Change Assist (LCA) provides a further alert and can offer timely assistance when a potential collision is expected within 3.5 seconds, helping reduce the risk of scrapes caused by poor visibility in rainy conditions.

If emergency avoidance is needed because the vehicle ahead brakes suddenly, Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK) can intervene within a 60-140 km/h speed range. It monitors lane markings, road edges and oncoming traffic, and can apply steering correction to help prevent the vehicle from leaving its lane due to sudden steering input. Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) actively corrects direction when unintentional lane departure occurs, while Lane Departure Warning (LDW) provides alerts, helping the vehicle stay on course in rainy conditions.

Withstanding Impact: High-Strength Body and 10 Airbags Form the Final Line of Defence

Even with preventive systems in place, unexpected road situations cannot be completely avoided. TIGGO8 CSH has been developed to meet five-star safety standards across global markets. High-strength steel and hot-formed steel account for 65% of the body structure, while the front anti-collision beam has an 80.4% width coverage rate. The box-section extruded aluminium anti-collision beam, together with the lower anti-collision beam and shotgun structure, forms three complete collision load paths, helping disperse impact forces in high-speed collisions and reinforce cabin protection for the whole family.

Inside the cabin, 10 airbags are fitted, including dual front airbags, front and rear side airbags, a driver knee airbag, a far-side airbag and left and right curtain airbags. With six-second pressure retention and a coverage area of 1,605 x 505 mm, the system helps provide more comprehensive protection for occupants in complex traffic collisions. The hybrid battery is equipped with millisecond-level high-voltage power cut-off, automatically disconnecting high-voltage power within two milliseconds of a collision. The battery pack is protected underneath by a 0.8 mm steel guard plate with a tensile strength of 780 MPa. It also has an IP68 rating and has been tested for immersion in one metre of water for more than 48 hours. Together, these measures help protect the battery against water exposure and underbody impacts.

For Family: From Driver Safety to Peace of Mind for Everyone On Board

For family users, safety is not only about the driver; children and loved ones in the rear seats are often the deepest concern. The rear side airbags and curtain airbags of TIGGO8 CSH help protect rear passengers in a side collision. Door Opening Warning (DOW) monitors approaching traffic from behind when occupants are getting out, helping prevent door-opening accidents. EU-market models are also equipped with Child Presence Detection (CPD), helping prevent children or pets from being left inside the vehicle.

From using the panoramic camera system to check the surroundings before setting off, to automatic braking and blind-spot alerts on the move, and body and airbag protection in a collision, the safety logic of TIGGO8 CSH is simple: the driver focuses on the road, while the vehicle helps monitor what is happening around them. Rainy roads can be challenging, but with these safety features providing support along the way, every school run and family journey can feel more reassuring. For Family reflects CHERY’s commitment to helping families travel with greater confidence, even in wind and rain.
