Dual Five-Star Ratings and Systematic Validation: TIGGO8 Delivers an All-Round Safety Shield for Global Multi-Member Families
As families worldwide prioritize safety more than ever, TIGGO8 has achieved top five-star safety ratings from both ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) and Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme). This dual recognition underscores its exceptional performance under two of the world’s most demanding safety standards, reinforcing its role as the trusted, all-scenario SUV of choice for multi-member families.

Designed for multi-member families, TIGGO8 was developed with safety as its core priority from the very beginning. Whether for city commuting, school runs, or cross-city journeys, the vehicle is built to protect every family member. To achieve this, TIGGO 8's comprehensive safety system is founded on rigorous engineering validation and a scientific technical framework, all underpinned by the sustained investment and systematic R&D capabilities of Chery Crash Safety Engineering Laboratory.
Systematic Validation: The Backbone of Product Development
Established in 2010 with a total investment of RMB 150 million and covering 32,000 square meters, Chery Crash Safety Engineering Laboratory serves as the core facility for the company's safety R&D. The lab integrates four key testing modules: full-vehicle crash tests, crash simulations, pedestrian protection assessments, and safety component validation. It possesses the capability to validate against mainstream global safety standards, supporting over 1,500 full-vehicle crash tests and 80 different international standard validations annually. To date, the laboratory has cumulatively completed more than 13,000 crash tests.

The lab is equipped with eight multi-angle crash tracks capable of conducting a wide range of tests, including 100% frontal impact, 40% offset, 25% small overlap, side impact, rear-end collision, underbody impact, and rollover scenarios. This comprehensive setup fully covers major global standards such as Euro NCAP, ANCAP, IIHS, C-NCAP, and C-IASI, providing critical data for optimizing vehicle structure and energy management strategies.
A sled-based simulation rig is used to test key restraint systems like airbags, seatbelts, and seats. By replicating real-world collision environments, it enables precise assessments such as whiplash and dynamic seat testing, effectively enhancing the reliability and consistency of safety systems across multiple scenarios.
The laboratory is equipped with various testing impactors, including headforms, upper legforms, and flexible legforms, along with a collection of 27 dummy models that cover a wide range of ages and body types. This setup simulates diverse road users, providing critical data for structural optimization and enhancing protection for both pedestrians and occupants. Furthermore, the lab incorporates advanced testing systems from Germany, Spain, France, the United States, and other countries, enabling compliance with more than 80 global regulations and standards. This integrated approach forms Chery's systematic R&D framework in the field of safety technology.
TIGGO 8: Comprehensive Safety from Structure to Systems
The safety performance of TIGGO8 is built upon rigorous engineering design. During its development phase, Chery conducted a cumulative total of over 160 full-vehicle and system-level crash validations for TIGGO8 series. These tests covered a complete spectrum of risk scenarios—from low to high speeds, frontal to side impacts, and pole collisions to rear-end crashes.

Built on the T1X platform, TIGGO8's body structure incorporates over 65% high-strength steel. Its critical sections are reinforced with BENTELER hot-formed ultra-high-strength steel rated at 1,500 MPa yield strength, complemented by multi-zone galvanized panels that enhance overall rigidity and corrosion resistance. In crash testing, this structure proves highly effective at absorbing impact energy while preserving a stable occupant cabin—safeguarding the survival space. The vehicle is further protected by ten standard airbags, with coverage extending across all three seating rows. In frontal, side, or rear impacts, the airbag and seatbelt systems interact to distribute forces, cushion occupants, and reduce the risk of head, chest, and spinal injury—ensuring comprehensive protection for every passenger.
Notably, the airbags are engineered with a 6-second pressure-hold design. This ensures continuous protection during multi-collision scenarios, giving the entire family confidence that their safety is secured throughout the entire incident.
Safety First: Protecting Families Worldwide
The exceptional safety performance of TIGGO8 is built upon more than two decades of Chery's dedicated safety engineering. Guided by its "Safety, for Family" philosophy, Chery is committed to advancing safety innovation and setting ever-higher protection standards for families everywhere.
