CHERY is bringing its Global Safety Challenge to Europe for the first time, with the TIGGO 9 CSH set to undergo a dedicated safety testing programme on the Black Sea coast in Constanța, Romania, from September 22 to 24, 2026.

Validating Safety. For Family Across Global Conditions

CHERY has conducted safety validation for its CSH hybrid technology across 44 representative countries worldwide, from prolonged seawater immersion in Indonesia, underbody scraping in Mexico, to high-temperature testing in the Middle East, and anti-penetration testing in Latin America.

By testing across different regions, climates and driving scenarios, CHERY aims to develop hybrid technology that can adapt to a wide variety of mobility environments. Now, this global safety testing approach is coming to Europe. The Black Sea coast in Constanța, Romania, will provide the European setting for the next stage of CHERY’s  safety challenge.

Putting Battery Safety to the Test

This time, CHERY will put its commitment to safety and reliability to the test, demonstrating its performance live on site.

From September 22 to 24, CHERY will conduct its Black Sea Safety Challenge, marking the first time this safety testing programme has been brought to Europe. The programme will include the 24-hour seawater immersion test, designed to examine the battery pack under prolonged immersion conditions. Following the immersion test, the battery will be reinstalled in the TIGGO 9 and undergo functional checks, providing a direct vehicle-level verification after the test.

The testing process and results will be demonstrated live on site, offering European audiences a closer look at how CHERY examines battery safety through dedicated engineering testing and transparent verification.

Making Safety Visible

For CHERY, bringing the Global Safety Challenge to Europe marks another step in its international approach to safety development and validation. As European markets are known for their high expectations and stringent requirements for vehicle safety, the challenge will provide European audiences with a closer look at how TIGGO 9 CSH is engineered and tested against demanding safety standards.
