From Utility to Refinement, HIMLA Embodies "For Family" Through Performance and Design

HIMLA

As expectations evolve from basic functionality to a more rewarding ownership experience, vehicles are moving beyond simple means of transport to become dependable companions across a wide range of conditions and scenarios. Pick-ups, long valued by families for utility and capability, are now expected to combine rugged performance with everyday usability and thoughtful design. Developed by CHERY for global markets, HIMLA is guided by the core brand proposition of "For Family". Designed around diverse family lifestyles and rising expectations, it offers not only formidable capability but also refined aesthetics and greater emotional appeal.

Rugged Capability for Journeys Near and Far

For family pick-up users, strong performance is essential. HIMLA offers a choice of 2.3-litre turbo-diesel and 2.4-litre turbo-petrol powertrains, developed to suit diverse road conditions and mobility needs around the world. The 2.3-litre turbo-diesel engine is paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission to deliver stable and efficient performance. Producing peak torque of 420 N·m at 1,500 rpm, it responds confidently when setting off under a heavy load, climbing steep slopes or travelling across sandy terrain.

For long-distance family travel under sustained heavy loads, HIMLA features an oversized front grille and an enhanced cooling system that helps maintain consistent performance over extended journeys. With a towing capacity of up to three tonnes, it can tow a caravan or boat, giving families greater freedom to travel further and embrace life on the road.

Building on this strong powertrain, HIMLA has a 33-degree approach angle, a 24-degree departure angle and 220 mm of minimum ground clearance, helping reduce the risk of underbody contact. A maximum gradeability of 95% further enhances its ability to tackle demanding terrain, allowing families to venture farther with confidence. From urban kerbs to deep ruts, steep slopes and water crossings, HIMLA is equipped to handle a wide range of conditions. On muddy, sandy, gravel or other low-grip surfaces, as well as in more extreme conditions, four-wheel-drive variants can be equipped with an optional rear differential lock to improve traction and help the vehicle regain momentum.

Practical Design in Every Detail

HIMLA is not designed simply to look refined. It also takes into account the practical demands of family travel, outdoor activities and load carrying, allowing form and function to work together.

Clean, muscular body lines give HIMLA the sense of strength expected of a pick-up while balancing style with utility. Its Tiger-Eye LED headlamps create a distinctive front-end signature and provide clear illumination at night and in challenging conditions. At the rear, flame-inspired lamp housings deliver a striking lighting signature while improving visibility to other road users. Fixed steps on both sides of the rear make it easier to access the load bed, reducing effort when loading or unloading luggage, outdoor equipment or work gear.

Designed around the needs of users worldwide, HIMLA moves beyond the purely utilitarian character of a conventional pick-up. Every detail is shaped by frequent real-world use rather than decoration for its own sake, making the design both visible and genuinely useful. Whether used for commuting, family trips, outdoor exploration or load transport, HIMLA delivers an enjoyable and more refined experience for drivers and passengers.

Designed to look good and work hard, HIMLA combines rugged capability with functional design. It moves beyond the traditional commercial and off-road roles of a pick-up to support daily family life, outdoor recreation and light commercial use. Suited to work, family life and leisure travel, it is more than a functional tool: it is a versatile mobility companion that balances capability with refinement, and practicality with warmth. With well-rounded product strengths tailored to diverse needs around the world, HIMLA enables more families to explore further and enjoy life to the fullest.
